Venture For America Scales Outbound Recruiting with RippleMatch

Challenge for VP of TA

To hire more than 165 fellows a year, MaryCatherine needs to do outbound recruiting at scale. She must also build a brand with college students who may be unfamiliar with Venture For America’s fellowship. However, as a non-profit with a lean recruiting team, MaryCatherine has limited resources to travel and utilize sourcing platforms that require hours of manual work.

Adding to their challenges, VFA’s ideal applicant can come from any background, so long as they are interested in entrepreneurship and startups. Effectively targeting candidates based on interests and experiences rather than specific academic and technical skill qualifications can be a struggle.

MaryCatherine also cares deeply about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and has an internal goal of having more than half of their fellowship cohort identify as women and BIPOC. Providing an onramp to entrepreneurship for historically underrepresented groups is also central to VFA's vision and mission.
