Zions Bancorporation’s college recruiting team cultivates strong partnerships with on-campus and community-based organizations to connect with early career talent. The team collaborated with university and community-based partners to facilitate and support on-campus workshops, site visits to the Zions Technology Center, and a variety of targeted and campus-wide career fairs. To connect with women, first generation college students, and refugees and immigrant candidates, Zions created and executed specialized events with panels with professionals from the business, resume and interview workshops, and other networking events. Once students enter the pipeline for early career roles, the team creates a stellar candidate experience through timely communication and high-touch candidate experience.
Excellence in Candidate Experience
Zions Bancorporation’s college recruiting team recognizes the increasing importance of fostering authentic relationships with candidates to create an exceptional candidate experience. The team dispositions candidates in a requisition in a timely fashion, informs candidates via email if they are selected to move to the hiring manager, and emails and texts candidates to arrange interviews with detailed information about the interview. College recruiters are available through a variety of on-campus and virtual events as well as through LinkedIn and email to answer general questions about the application process. Candidates also receive an optional candidate experience survey. Once candidates have accepted an offer, the college recruiting team stays in contact to ensure a seamless onboarding process.

Zions Bancorporation believes that Everyone Counts and focuses on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through a multi-pronged approach. College recruiters identify opportunities to connect with diverse talent as part of their overall outreach strategy. Strong partnerships with on-campus student groups and community-based organizations include various women in business and technology campus clubs, first-generation college student outreach programs, and local refugee and immigrant organizations. These relationships have created opportunities for Zions to host specialized site visits, professional development workshops, and other networking events with groups. Specialized diversity events create a robust pipeline of candidates for roles in banking and technology. All employees are welcome to receive support and mentorship from a variety of Business Resource Groups during their time at the Bank.
Excellence in Internship Programming
At Zions Bancorporation, interns gain hands-on, real-world experience to create value for its customers through innovative projects in technology and banking. Interns have the benefits of flexible work schedules, opportunities to engage with Business Resource Groups and other employee activities, and other internal opportunities for professional development. In addition to these opportunities, the college recruiting team hosts weekly networking events with executives, final presentations to senior leadership in Enterprise Technology and Operations, and professional development workshops on building speaking and presentation skills, crafting an effective resume, and more. The strength of the internship program has led to a consistently high acceptance rate (upwards of 90%) of post-internship full-time offers extended.
