Discovery invests in multi-faceted recruitment strategies, fostering inclusion during the recruitment process and at the company, and standout internship programs. Excellence in Recruitment Strategies
Warner Bros. Discovery’s Early Talent team has a dynamic recruitment approach, both on-campus and off. Not only does the team focus on connecting with qualified students during the main two recruitment seasons, but the team also spends a good part of the summer recruiting students at various conferences around the country and even hosts tech-specific recruitment events throughout the year. The company maintains robust partnerships with local universities surrounding WBD’s main U.S. campuses and regularly offers professional development sessions + practical industry-specific workshops to support career readiness within entertainment. In order to tap students outside of their core schools, they offer a Virtual Internship Exploration Week to provide insight into various teams at WBD and their internships. In fact, a large amount of students onboarded into the WBD Intern Program were initially met through the team’s various campus engagement initiatives. And, the pipeline only continues – WBD strategically cultivates its interns as a talent pipeline for entry-level positions, to ensure seamless transition from academic excellence to professional success.
Excellence in DE&I
At WBD, diversity and inclusion are integral to the company's guiding principles and ways of working. The content produced reflects a broad range of perspectives and experiences, and the workforce mirrors this commitment. The team builds meaningful, two-way partnerships with diversity-focused organizations like the Emma Bowen Foundation, T. Howard Foundation, Center for Communication, CodeStack, and others. Partnerships extend to HBCUs, HSIs, and organizations such as NABJ, AAJA, NLGJA, and NAHJ. Through recruitment, resource sharing, and sponsorships, WBD connects with these groups to make a meaningful impact in their communities. The team also hosts an annual Summit at its offices to expose individuals from these communities to WBD, provide hands-on experiences, and bring in hiring managers for interviews. Once onboard, students participate in programming and connect with employees of diverse backgrounds through speaker panels and mentorship opportunities.
Excellence in Internship Programming
WBD’s intern program’s focus is to support students in their growth, both professionally and personally. They offer paid, for-credit internships and exciting, hands-on opportunities so students develop skills that will set them up for a standout career in the media and entertainment. The goal is that interns will leave with career-defining projects for their portfolios and the continuous support of our team. Not only are WBD interns making a true impact on the business throughout their day-to-day, but they are also thrown into networking, mentorship, executive speaker connections and professional development through 12 weeks of special programming. The team takes the time to offer Tech, MBA and JD interns tailored events, and preemptively brings in our Early Careers team to expose all students to life at WBD after graduation. All interns are also given the opportunity to take part in any screenings, community events, exclusive tours through WBD studios, and cohort-wide competitions.
