The Highlights of Texas Instruments' Approach to Early Career Hiring
Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
In 2021, when the campus recruiting team at Texas Instruments was again facing virtual recruiting, they got creative to keep engagement high and ensure students were able to connect with TI team members in a variety of ways. The team crafted a diverse set of virtual and in-person events available to students at partner universities across the country, ranging from info sessions to workshops. Beyond events, the team invested in their former interns to act as brand ambassadors and spread the word about TI's awesome internship opportunities and culture as well as educating candidates about career search best practices.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
The US Recruiters and University Recruiting Managers at Texas Instruments understands that a standout candidate experience is essential for connecting with top talent. That's why they go above and beyond to ensure that students have a good experience interacting with Texas Instruments from campus engagement all the way to offers being extended. To ensure their efforts are successful, the team has also put into place a robust survey to collect data on the candidate experience to make lasting improvements to the hiring process.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
To recruit a diverse slate of candidates, the team has grown and developed relationships with HBCUs, HSIs, and public universities as well as built out a robust set of diversity-focused partnerships with national and regional organizations such as NSBE, SHPE, SWE, and oSTEM. Texas Instruments has 15 employee resource groups which is focused on impacting the company, culture, career development and the community and includes networks for women, Black and Hispanic employees, Veterans, LGBTQ+ employees & allies and employees with disabilities.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
Texas Instruments welcomes over 1,000 interns who work on challenging projects, develop personally and professionally, and experience firsthand what it’s like to work at TI. Texas Instruments assigns interns meaningful work from day one, and are always amazed by what interns achieve. For interns who go above and beyond, TI invite them back for another internship, or extend an offer to join one of their full-time rotation programs after graduation.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
The Texas Instrument rotation programs for new college grads give rotators the opportunity to quickly gain experience in different areas and to help find a role where they can make the biggest impact. TI has rotation programs for most functions and it gives new college grads a broader view of the roles and lets them work within multiple parts of the org and network with leaders. The TI Make an Impact program is for first year new college grads and helps them develop quicker and perform faster. The program provides tools to help enhance performance and accelerate growth and success within the company.
