Excellence in Recruitment Strategies

Terracon recognizes the importance of connecting with students to attract top talent. Throughout the 2023/2024 season, Terracon professionals actively engaged with students through various avenues such as classroom presentations, event sponsorships, national conferences, office visits, and numerous in-person career fairs. At the SWE and EWB conferences, students eagerly visited the recruiting booth to create friendship bracelets. This fun and interactive activity provided a unique opportunity for Terracon professionals and students to bond. The bracelets quickly became a popular attraction, drawing many students to the booth. After these recruiting events, resumes are promptly distributed to managers, and campus teams ensure that follow-ups and interviews occur in a timely manner.

Excellence in Candidate Experience

Terracon understands the importance of candidate experience. After recruiting events, campus teams promptly present top candidates to managers. Candidates who visit Terracon booths receive a thank you communication for their visit within 48 hours of the event. Through the interview process, hiring manager ensure that candidates understand Terracon and the opportunities available to them. Interns benefit from “early onboarding” allowing them join Terracon and complete onboarding classes before their summer start date. This process helps managers and interns stay connected and engaged.

Excellence in DE&I

Terracon is passionate about making sure everyone feels valued, has a voice, and has an opportunity to build a successful career. National conferences like SWE and NSBE are part of the overall talent strategy ensuring the company reaches a diverse pool of candidates. Terracon hosted a unique event with Kansas State University’s International Student Organization where the company was able to speak with students from multiple organizations. Many Terracon offices partner with high schools and hire under represented students for summer internships. Two of Terracon’s employee resource groups have mentorship programs. iWIL focuses on increasing women in leadership and LEAP, focuses on improving leadership skills. Additional employee resource groups are available to support veterans, teach and celebrate cultural differences and lend support to LGBTQIA+ communities.

Excellence in Internship Programming

Terracon interns are welcomed and embraced into the organization, beginning with a call from the CEO. Interns report how they appreciate being trusted to work on real projects where they learn the value of safety, communication, and how to be good consultants. Interns experience the inclusive culture by participating in employee resource groups, joining cohorts and working closely with a mentor. They also learn about the company through weekly lunch and learn sessions. The summer concludes with Intern Fest, where interns network, share experiences, and present to company leaders, enhancing their visibility and confidence. With an 87% intern conversion rate, surpassing the industry average, Terracon demonstrates its commitment to developing future leaders.
