TCS leveraged strong relationships with local universities to engage thousands of students in its flagship CodeVita – the largest global computer programming contest (New Guinness World Records Title) and hosted engaging in-person and virtual Ted Talks, technology workshops, resume reviews, diversity-focused panel events and leveraging employees as Ambassadors to connect with their Alma Mater. To prevent “virtual fatigue”, TCS collaborated with universities and designed fun and interactive virtual events, including Social Media “takeover” days and Instagram Live chats. TCS is consistently hiring for full-time, intern and co-op positions in big numbers by taking a school-agnostic approach.

Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience

TCS creates a welcoming environment and positive candidate experience by engaging with students in its alumni-led informational sessions at career fairs and nationwide events. TCS engages students prior to them joining by designing and implementing the ALIGN Program (Aspire.Learn.Imagine.Grow.Network). The program consists of an introduction for new hires, a networking session where students get the opportunity to meet their peers with ALIGN alumni, and a session from business leaders talking about learning and growth opportunities in the project ecosystem. This program strives towards creating a strong sense of belonging to students as more than 80% join TCS after attending the ALIGN Program.

TCS recruits and retains diverse talent by having close relationships with national diversity organizations. TCS’s recruitment strategy is to partner with diverse groups to cultivate relationships, enhance student career development and empower students to solve authentic challenges. TCS engages with HBCU & HSI institutions to solicit feedback on how they can best support students in their career development journeys. TCS created flagship community engagement programs goIT and Ignite My Future to mentor K-12 students in Digital and Computer Programming skills to increase STEM literacy and problem-solving skills to close the representation gap.

Investing in Impactful Internship Programs

The TCS Internship program strives to develop emerging young leaders. Interns contribute to authentic projects led by mentors within their business units and gain business and leadership skills to help jumpstart their careers. Unique events include Virtual Meet Ups, Structured Networking, using Mural Boards for brainstorming and collaborative discussions, fun projects like Intuitive and Engaging Navigation System App for Retail Stores by creating a wow experience, presenting concepts to Business teams, Graduation ceremony and Community Engagement Initiatives. Proof of concepts are being further developed as solutions to clients' business problems. TCS is extending full-time offers to 80% interns.

Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent

TCS’ full-time entry-level positions stand out through emphasis on training and professional development, and exposure to technology and businesses. This helps students to know their impact on Fortune 500 companies who are TCS Customers. TCS's ALIGN, a post-offer program that consists of networking events (About TCS, Alumni and Business leaders) engages students before they join with the company. TCS offers an 8-12 week Initial Learning Program (ILP) to sharpen technical and business skills, and provides mentorship and interactive group activities such as Hackathons. MBA hires join TALP (TCS Accelerated Leadership Program), a unique opportunity for job rotations and networking with senior leaders.
