The Snap University Programs team has always maintained a school-agnostic approach to recruiting, recognizing that great talent can be found at any school. The team uses a hybrid recruitment strategy, attending conferences such as GHC, O4U, and AfroTech in person while hosting Snap-owned and operated events virtually to ensure accessibility for students nationwide. This year, Snap hosted its first-ever virtual batch interview day, SnapFest, where 90 students were interviewed in a single day, with interview outcomes shared just two days later. The event included a live special message from the SVP of Engineering and a former intern panel to provide a "Snappy" experience and allow candidates to learn more about what makes Snap unique.
Excellence in Candidate Experience
The University Programs team at Snap has structured its recruiting process to align with candidates' preferences and timelines. The team commits to a swift recruitment timeline, completing the process from application to interview to offer within a month. Recruiters host screens with all prospective candidates to learn more about them and ensure they feel prepared and informed about the interview process. To streamline the timeline, Snap implemented a batch interview day, which eliminates gaps in the recruitment process. During the batch day, the SVP of Engineering spoke alongside a group of former interns to further educate and excite candidates about opportunities at Snap.
Excellence in Internship Programming
At Snap, interns are critical to the company’s success and work on real business problems that are highly impactful. Despite being a well-known company, Snap has only about 5,000 employees globally, maintaining a lean structure to ensure that every team member can make a meaningful impact. Snap interns are primarily based at the company’s headquarters in Santa Monica, where they participate in exciting programming beyond their projects. These events emphasize Snap’s three core values: Kind, Smart, and Creative. One standout example of Snap’s exceptional intern programming is the Intern Snapshot event, where interns present their final projects in a science fair-style format to Snap team members from across the business. This event showcases their work and provides opportunities to connect with leaders from various facets of the company. Engaging programming like this contributes to Snap’s impressive 95% return offer acceptance rate.
