Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment

Schellman's Emerging Talent Team feels it is crucial to create in-person relationships with schools and students on-campus. To achieve this, they have a dynamic approach that utilizes leaders in the field, CARES employee resource groups, and campus recruiting and training teams. Recruiting committees are formed nationwide so a local presence is established with students, career services, and faculty at different schools. The Emerging Talent Team facilitates and maintains relationships with campuses nationwide, while also working closely with the local recruiting committees to ensure the in-person relationships continues to flourish. The campus recruiting team also hosts regular virtual sessions to introduce candidates to the organization, feel the culture, and experience the office space. The team is intentional about building and adding relationships with HBCUs, HSIs and other DEI focused career fairs, conferences, and activities.

Standout Candidate Experience

The Schellman Emerging Talent team sets clear expectations for how the recruiting process operates. This starts with informative introduction sessions from the campus team. If there are changes, they will be notified by the Emerging Talent Recruiting Team directly. The students have the opportunity to meet with multiple representatives from Schellman. Once hired, the Emerging Talent Associate will receive regularly updated newsletters to ensure they are kept up to date with the company news and highlights. This keeps them in the know and ensures they feel a part of the team. They will also have multiple Zoom chats leading up to the start date to learn more details about Schellman, learn about their local office experience and expectations, and the Emerging Talent Program.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

Schellman has multiple processes in place to ensure long-term success. The Associate program is a 1-year intensive broken into multiple segments to set the Associates up for success. New associates begin with a minimum of 8 weeks of on-the-job training. Subject matter experts from all over Schellman lead these trainings to provide the best education possible. The associates are also exposed to firm leadership during this learning period. Once initial training is complete, all associates move to a hybrid schedule to help ease them into being remote full-time. This allows great remote work habits to be established without being fully remote all at once. During this time, the Associates continue to learn, receive training, but also get exposure to active client projects. All associates are paired up with Buddies from day one who help them integrate to Schellman and encourage them on their way.
