Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment

Reddit’s Emerging Talent team recruitment strategy is centered on high-touch events and strategic partnerships with diverse student organizations at high-performing universities. Reddit creates in-person and virtual events that provide insight into Reddit’s company culture and the internship program experience. Advancing this strategy, Reddit added city-wide “hub” events, allowing the team to connect with students from more than one college/university in a given region. During the NYC & ATL hub events, Reddit invited students from multiple campuses (5+) to network with Reddit engineers, data scientists, and new grads at a Reddit hosted location. This approach ensured Reddit connected with a significant amount of students to create a diverse pipeline of qualified talent interested in Reddit’s internship program.

Innovative Use of Technology

Reddit’s community value of “Remember the Human” is core to the Emerging Talent program strategies. Reddit enabled technology anchored around this approach to improve engagement with Gen Z in unique ways, which resulted in 94% of interns recommending Reddit to a friend. On the Building Reddit podcast platform, the team created a two-part episode to highlight the Emerging Talent programs and learn about the experiences of current participants, reaching a new talent audience for opportunities at Reddit. With tools like RippleMatch, Reddit can track engagement with students on campus and virtually. RippleMatch also connects Reddit to highly qualified candidates and allows Reddit to communicate with them in a timely manner. Technology continues to help Reddit bring a human-centered approach to evolving talent programs.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

Reddit is invested in retaining great employees and Emerging Talent entry-level hires are a prime audience. Reddit launched a New Graduate Program this year, designed to provide a one-year experience that enriches, showcases, and retains exceptional talent. These new grads are empowered with technical enrichment focused on technologies like generative AI and kubernetes. Reddit showcases their talents through participation in the company-wide hackathon “Snoosweek,” where new grads can work on cool, creative projects outside of their day-to-day work. Through professional development and social events specifically for new grads, Reddit fosters a community where new grads feel like they belong at Reddit, keeping retention rates high.
