Red Hat's Emerging Talent team has developed a campus outreach strategy identifying target schools. Schools are tiered on a scale that determines the engagement offerings. Tier qualifications are based on location, alignment to business needs, existing engagement and previous hiring success. Emphasizing in-person engagements the team attends career fairs and harnesses vital relationships with university faculty. Red Hat opens its offices to local talent for "Open Houses" where students learn about our open culture and technology, connect with hiring managers, and receive resume review and interview tips. Participating in diversity conferences such as Grace Hopper and AfroTech demonstrates a commitment to DEI and sends a powerful message about Red Hat’s dedication to building a workforce that reflects the communities in which the team lives and work.

Excellence in Internship Programming

Red Hat strongly believes in investing in emerging talent. Interns are welcomed into the company’s open culture by contributing to business-driven projects, participating in technical and non-technical upskilling, and building networks. With most interns assigned to offices, they are empowered to become drivers of office culture and expand their networks beyond their teams through engagement in DEI groups and the Early in Career community. CEO staff provide bi-annual chats with global emerging talent, emphasizing their importance to Red Hat’s culture and growth. Managers, mentors, and peers are invited to interns' final presentations and a closing celebration to honor their contributions and time at Red Hat. This culmination of meaningful experiences and impactful relationships results in an 86% acceptance rate for return offers extended.
