Excellence in Recruitment Strategies
Through various recruitment paths, both traditional and unconventional, PayPal’s University Recruitment Team prioritizes equitable access to opportunity by implementing a school-agnostic strategy. Through a robust recruitment process, candidates learn about the people who work at PayPal, its culture, and its beliefs even before an interview through open university events, including Meet PayPal's ERGs, Women Leading the Way in Data Science, Fireside Chat with Venmo CTO, What to Expect in a Technical Interview, Allyship at PayPal, and regular University Insights sessions. These events provide all students the opportunity to engage with PayPal recruiters and employees while evaluating PayPal as a potential employer.
Excellence in Tech Innovation
PayPal's university talent acquisition team leverages technology to enhance the experience of its people and drive efficiency. Through the use of Eightfold, candidates are engaged through proactive sourcing and regular connectivity, as well as immersed in a streamlined preboarding experience following offer acceptance. Additionally, PayPal has integrated AI into sourcing efforts through Findem, optimizing sourcing and recruitment processes. In conjunction with the candidate and manager experience, the talent acquisition team has implemented a digital approach to reporting through a customized, in-house-built dashboard developed in partnership with the Workforce Planning and People Analytics teams. This promotes better agility and collaboration across People teams, ensuring a best-in-class experience for candidates and hiring managers.
Excellence in Candidate Experience
The PayPal University Recruiting Team places a strong emphasis on creating a positive, equitable, and transparent candidate experience. PayPal has streamlined its global recruitment approach, where all interviewers and hiring managers follow a common interview process. This ensures every candidate has a similar experience regardless of their location. The approach also ensures timely progression from resume review to interview to feedback to offer, eliminating the "blackhole" of candidate applications for Internship or Recent Grad positions. Once candidates are selected for an interview, they are provided with a 1:1 prep conversation and the opportunity to ask questions before the interview. Additionally, transparency around interview and selection timelines is communicated to all candidates.
Excellence in DE&I
As part of PayPal's inclusive hiring efforts, the talent acquisition team has adopted a school-agnostic approach to recruiting, believing that amazing and diverse talent exists everywhere and providing equitable employment opportunities to all students. PayPal maintains relationships with national organizations to ensure sourcing from underrepresented talent pools, including Backrs, CodeHouse, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Year Up, the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), ICT Academy, and Women Luminaries. Additionally, this year PayPal launched the PayPal Career Academy in the U.S. and India, aiming to equip first-generation students with the skills needed for careers in the tech space. Upon joining the organization, PayPal’s global workforce has access to Employee Resource Groups, thousands of learning and career development workshops focused on internal mobility, inclusive performance management, and women in leadership, as well as Emerging Leader programs that foster mentoring and skill-building opportunities to create a foundation for early career success.
Excellence in Internship Programming
PayPal is committed to building the next generation of innovators through the Global Intern Program. PayPal interns contribute solutions that impact customers and employees, advancing the mission to revolutionize commerce globally. Hearing from senior leaders, participating in targeted career pathing workshops such as "Program vs. Product Management," engaging in the Exec Speaker Series hosted by interns for interns, receiving mentorship through the Intern ERG Mentorship Program with regular 1:1s with leaders across the globe, and showcasing their project work through end-of-summer presentations all provide opportunities for interns to grow as early professionals. PayPal interns are also immersed in PayPal’s culture and can expect a full calendar of events to connect with peers globally, including PayPal’s Impact Day volunteering to support small businesses in their local communities, the global hackathon, International Intern Day celebrations, the Intern Wellness Wednesday series, and more. The University Team and the greater PayPal community recognize that their highest purpose is to invest in the future leaders of PayPal.
