The campus recruiting team partners with schools to discuss open opportunities and build relationships. School targeting is based on past applicant qualifications, intern talent, and successful hires. Recruitment efforts include on-site career fairs, university lounge tabling events, and virtual skills labs. Currently, all digital targeting is organic. Michaels also encourages internal referrals, which has led to successful hires. Recently, the campus recruiting team has collaborated with the I&D team to engage with a diverse audience through existing partnerships.

Excellence in Candidate Experience

The recruiting team delivers an exceptional experience for early career talent. Former interns who became full-time hires attend on-site events to share their Michaels experience. Recruiters are also present to answer questions about the recruitment process and department qualifications. Flyers are available for candidates seeking more information about Michaels. Throughout the recruiting process, candidates stay connected with recruiters and meet department leaders during interviews. Candidates who receive and accept offers receive regular updates from the Campus Recruiting/University Relations team leading up to their first day.

Excellence in Internship Programming

From day one, interns are immersed in the inclusive culture of Michaels, which fosters creativity throughout the program. They connect with fellow interns and are paired with peer mentors for ongoing support. Interns collaborate with their managers on impactful projects that contribute to the business. They also work in small groups to develop proposals and present on topics aligned with current business strategies. Additional activities include facility tours, creative break sessions, and off-site outings, all designed to enhance the learning experience and encourage personal and professional growth.
