Lithko Contracting’s approach to sourcing and recruiting Early Career Talent is built upon its commitment to a positive candidate experience, clear expectations and executing with excellence. Lithko utilizes a hybrid approach to meet Early Career Talent where they are. From attending over 100 events in the fall of 2024 to active outreach on platforms like Handshake and LinkedIn. This year, Lithko overhauled its website and provides transparency into the Early Career interview process, setting candidates up for success. Lithko monitors turnaround time to maintain efficiency and trains hiring managers on the unique needs and timelines associated with early career hiring.

Tech Innovation

Excellence in Tech Innovation

Lithko Contracting prioritizes meaningful human interactions by leveraging technology to automate tasks and share information. This year, Lithko has integrated the pre-boarding platform, Abode, into all stages of its Early Career program. Lithko engages talent before they start with tailored content focused on job readiness and engagement. Returning and converted interns share experiences on the platform to build connections within regions. On-campus representatives use Abode to learn program insights and Gen Z career priorities. Managers utilize the platform to learn how to set clear expectations and support career goals. Leveraging the platform holistically enables Talent Development Specialists to spend time focusing on empowering managers and new hires to creating impactful career development plans.

Excellence in Candidate Experience

Throughout the talent acquisition process, Lithko Contracting prioritizes education and support for student job seekers. Early Career Talent Specialists provide clarity and relevance by connecting the candidate's schoolwork and future career goals to the work the candidate will perform on the job. Business leaders build personal relationships with students by attending career fairs, supporting student organizations through presentations and fundraisers, and coaching case study competition teams. The Early Career team emphasizes clear communication and quick turnarounds, communicating with candidates within one week and completing the hiring process in 3-4 weeks, on average. A dedicated resource shepherds each candidate through the process, ensuring consistent communication and support and fostering trust and understanding.

Excellence in DE&I

Lithko Contracting’s Early Career Team is committed to promoting diversity within the construction industry, recognizing the unique challenges of recruiting underrepresented candidates in the field. Lithko’s Early Career positions prioritize skills and experience and do not have a degree or GPA requirement, broadening access for a diverse pool of candidates. Recruitment efforts focus on outreach and support to women, veterans, and non-traditional students. The team also works to identify and advance individuals currently in craft positions into the Early Career program, a strategy that has proven highly successful for development and retention. Company leaders emphasize equity in opportunities for professional growth and development. Lithko’s structured Early Career integration program ensures that everyone has access to mentorship and career advancement pathways regardless of identity or background.

In 2024, 100% of Interns at Lithko Contracting reported building valuable skills and making important contributions. Interns work on world-class construction projects alongside dedicated managers who tailor work objectives to their intern’s career goals. 100% of interns reported their manager consistently provided actionable feedback, preparing them for successful careers at Lithko.Annual Early Career events in each region offer Interns opportunities to network, build skills, and learn about different career paths. After the events, 94% of Interns agreed that Lithko values their career development. One intern reported, “I very much enjoyed getting to know more about career paths, meeting people, having access to different positions to ask questions, the team building – it all solidified my goal to be a contributing full-time employee after graduation.”
