Liberty Mutual looks for employees across all backgrounds, which is why in 2017, the college degree requirement was dropped for entry level positions. A college degree continues to be valuable, but it isn’t accessible to everyone and Liberty Mutual wants to ensure equity in the hiring process. They use a variety of sources to help build a strong pipeline of talent including a school agnostic approach, Community Colleges, code schools, bootcamps and have ramped up their apprenticeship hiring to train people on the job. This innovative approach allows candidates a view into the diverse culture and community that exists within the organization.
Innovative Use of Technology
Liberty Mutual has been partnering with several technology solutions to maximize resources, minimize cost and increase efficiency and effectiveness in early career recruiting. By implementing candidate sourcing tools, the team is able to proactively source and meet candidates with the right skills, faster and in a more cost-effective way. With the addition of an events platform, candidates have a full view of the recruiting calendar and can register for events. This also creates an efficient way to track participants from the time of registration to potentially receiving an offer, and a great opportunity to monitor event ROI to continuously improve recruitment strategy.
