Excellence in Recruitment Strategies
The Emerging Talent Team at Hussmann leverages several methods to connect with the next generation of talent including social media, university contacts, student organizations, alumnae employees, and more. Hussmann partners with diverse student groups and hosts in-person career development sessions covering tips on resumes, interviews, and elevator pitches. They sponsor Missouri University S&T’s NSBE, SHPE, & SWE chapters to aid funding for programing and attending national conventions. The team utilizes multidepartment career fair attendees, and video streaming presentation at their booth, help students learn about Hussmann. Once selected for interviews, candidates receive guides including interview tips, examples of behavioral-based questions, and other preparation materials. Hussmann hosts designated interview days within a week of the fairs and targets a one-week offer response time after interviews.
Excellence in Candidate Experience
Hussmann’ Emerging Talent Team knows excellent candidate experiences begin before the application. The team works with managers to ensure job descriptions provide descriptive examples of the specific role. During career fairs, they make connections to understand students’ professional background and career objectives. Before interviews, the team helps prepare candidates through sharing interview best practices, examples of behavioral-based questions, and more. As Hussmann targets completing intern hiring before the fall semester concludes, the pre-hired interns receive care packages with Hussmann gear, snacks, encouraging notes, and more to support them through finals week. They later receive monthly email newsletters with onboarding information, action items, recent Hussmann news, and more. Newsletters include videos introducing the annual Ideation & Innovation Challenge, the intern team, and Hussmann businesses and initiatives.
