Excellence in Recruitment Strategies
The Generac recruiting team prides itself on building a sourcing and recruiting strategy that meets students in a variety of spaces. Recruiters and company representatives not only attended virtual and in-person university career fairs across the country, but they also prioritized small-group events such as student organization meetings and classroom presentations to educate and prepare students for future careers. Unique to Generac is often these events are hosted by members of the company’s Business Employee Resource Groups (BERGs), voluntary, employee-driven groups that are organized around a particular shared interest, characteristic, or experience such as the Professional Women’s Resource BERG.
Excellence in Candidate Experience
The recruiters at Generac constantly seek to create best-in-class experiences for both internal stakeholders and student candidates, and ensure all parties have a successful hiring season. One such way they do so is through InternPalooza, an on-site hiring event where candidates within Engineering functional groups are invited onsite to tour the headquarters and interview with interested hiring teams. InternPalooza creates efficiency within the hiring process, allowing managers to make quick decisions and ultimately the recruiting team’s response time to candidates. It also creates a positive experience for candidates as they have the exciting opportunity to engage with other candidates, meet several hiring teams, and explore the company headquarters – all before officially joining the team.
Excellence in DE&I
Emerging Talent within Generac has a unique opportunity to expand current talent pipelines to develop organizational relationships that support underrepresented talent and ultimately contribute to diversity within the larger company. To build a diverse slate of candidates, Generac has expanded geographical recruiting bounds to tap into more diverse communities across the country, especially focusing on HIS, technical and community colleges, and public universities. The team has also focused on developing relationships with professional organizations, both nationwide and local student chapters, within NSBE, SWE, SHPE, as well as other grassroots, local events that support underrepresented groups to build an additional school-agnostic element to the recruiting strategy.
