More than 148 years later, Lilly remains committed to this vision in every aspect of its business and the people it serves, starting with those who take its medicines and extending to health care professionals, employees, and the communities where it operates.

Excellence in Recruitment Strategies

The Campus Recruiting Team at Lilly collaborates closely with Functional Recruiters, University Recruiters, and Business Point Captains. Together, they actively engage students through events such as Lilly Days on campus, conference initiatives, case competitions, scholarship opportunities, and Lilly Discovery Day. These efforts serve as a pipeline through early ID programs, channeling students into the internship program and ultimately leading to full-time employment. Dedicated initiatives with HBCUs and HSIs provide opportunities for underrepresented students, including networking and mentorship programs. Additionally, Lilly offers professional development workshops for students interested in enhancing their skills and advancing their careers.

Excellence in Candidate Experience

The campus recruiting team believes the candidate experience should be a well-defined process that consistently maintains communication and sets clear expectations for students. This includes preparing students for success in the interview process by offering workshops to help them get ready. Once a student is offered a role, the candidate care team manages their expectations up to their start date, providing support with housing, transportation, and details about what to expect when they begin their role. Additionally, opportunities are created for students to engage in professional activities and connect with Life in Indy, as well as with each other.

Excellence in DE&I

In addition to the previous comments, Lilly integrates its Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) with student programs to foster a sense of belonging. This helps students find their community and envision themselves working at Lilly. Furthermore, Lilly offers a variety of clubs that new employees can join to connect with others who share their passions. These initiatives provide students with opportunities to share their interests and learn from their peers.

Excellence in Internship Programming

At Lilly, internship projects are designed to address real business challenges, enabling interns to make a tangible impact on decisions that affect customers and patients globally. Each intern is assigned a mentor and has opportunities to connect with senior leadership and collaborate with other Lilly employees to gain professional insights and advance their skills. While most interns are based in Indianapolis, some are located at satellite locations across the US. At the end of their internships, interns present their projects, and their recommendations are often integrated into Lilly’s business processes.
