Standout Candidate Experience

eBay aims to create a positive candidate experience for student job seekers throughout the entire process. First, the Emerging Talent recruiting team coordinates with the People Team to find open permanent roles, and then creates internships within those hiring teams to create a pipeline of candidates. To reduce bias, eBay uses a school-agnostic approach, which gives hiring teams more diverse talent and ranges of experience to select from. The Emerging Talent Team prioritizes keeping candidates informed, providing in-depth information on eBay programs and culture to candidates and using an onboarding platform to ensure all potential candidates to new hires stay updated on next steps and tasks, giving insight and clarity into the hiring process.

Impactful Internship Program

The eBay Internship program provides a holistic view of eBay as an organization with opportunities for interns to develop, network and grow. eBay hosts a speaker series for interns consisting of more than 15 events with eBay executive leadership to hear firsthand about different career paths and ask questions. The program also includes participation in eBay’s AI conference and 26+ community events for networking and mentorship. Many events crossover with the Recent Graduate program, letting interns meet peers who have recently been in their shoes. To gauge effectiveness, the eBay Programs team surveys interns each week, averaging 90% satisfaction. The team also tracks skill development - in 2023, eBay interns collectively gained 330 skills over the summer, with the largest categories in AI and interpersonal skills.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

eBay’s Recent College Graduates (RCG) program considers the needs of new grads and offers community events, speaker series, leadership opportunities and on-demand learning and growth opportunities. eBay hosts a variety of in-person events in various office locations, plus virtual events that bring recent grads together and creates a supportive community. RCGs also get direct access to eBay’s executive leadership team with “Ask Me Anything” sessions, where they ask their questions directly to senior leaders. The speaker series aims to give RCGs insight into the business as well as enrich their overall industry experience and knowledge. In 2023, eBay hosted a speaker series with the Benefits team, allowing recent graduates to get answers about medical benefits, educational assistance, 401K and more.
