Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment

The University Recruiting team at DISH strives to meet students beyond traditional career fairs to establish unique and impactful relationships with universities to get to know students beyond their resumes. This is achieved by deepening relationships with select schools based on the last five years of hiring trends and working closely with career services offices to ensure engagement opportunities are meaningful for both students and recruiters. One way the team engages students is by building the company’s alumni network to send alumni representatives to campus to connect with students. Additionally, the team hosts students from select universities to experience the innovative work DISH teams are conducting. Most recently, the team hosted 24 University of Colorado Engineering students at the Downtown Denver Office’s “Innovation Hub.”

Standout Candidate Experience

The University Relations team cultivates a personal and engaging candidate experience from first contact through the selection process. The team starts with targeted messaging to spark interest in DISH. Students are invited to information sessions to make them well-informed about the company, interview process and hiring expectations. Students can then indicate if they would like to move forward, which allows them to confirm that the internship or new graduate opportunity aligns with their individual interests. If selected to move forward, panel interviews allow students to meet with multiple hiring teams and understand different areas of the business. Finally, the University Relations team collects feedback from hiring teams and candidates to connect students with the teams that best fit their skill sets and interests.

Impactful Internship Program

DISH offers a structured, 10-week paid internship program centered around a capstone project that can create a tangible impact on both the student, their assigned team and the DISH organization as a whole. The program provides hands-on business experience, peer and executive networking opportunities, and an understanding of the business. Throughout the summer, students take part in trainings, networking opportunities and team-building events that prepare them for a transition to employment at DISH upon graduation. In addition to their teammates and hiring managers, interns are assigned a mentor for guidance and support as they work through a capstone project centered on a real business problem or area of development. The program culminates with final presentations where interns share their research, final products and proposals with their teams and business leaders.
