Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting

Dell has remained committed to a virtual recruiting strategy as everyone continues to navigate the pandemic. It is critical for Dell to attract, recruit, and hire top talent. Dell adapted its recruitment strategy by working with schools to engage in virtual career fairs, virtual sales competitions, and other virtual events on campus. Dell also hosts its own webinars aimed at both full-time and intern candidates. Beyond events, Dell has engaged internal employees to educate candidates on the opportunities available, interview tips, and culture at the company.

Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience

To create a positive candidate experience, Dell schedules interview prep and culture overviews via pre-calls with current Dell employees. Dell also offers numerous webinars, with opportunities for Q+A, to provide additional information on the internship program. Finally, to give candidates as much exposure to the teams and culture as possible, Dell makes sure to have interview days held over video. All of these touchpoints and opportunities for personalization helps Dell to craft a positive candidate experience during these unprecedented times.

Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion

Dell is dedicated to spearheading a culture of diversity and inclusion by setting concrete “Moonshot Goals”. These goals include having 50% of the workforce and 40% of leaders be female by 2030, and 25% of the workforce and 15% of leaders be Black or Latinx by 2030. Dell’s early talent team expanded their efforts to engage more diverse students. They leverage tools like RippleMatch and developed relationships with HBCUs and underrepresented student groups of their partner schools. The team hosts webinars that target student-athletes, participates in ‘women in sales’ events, and produces a monthly D&I newsletter internally that is solely focused on their recruiting efforts around D&I for entry-level opportunities.

At Dell, interns get the experience of a world-class technology company. Interns engage in work projects that mimic full time employees. Dell is offering flexibility to interns with the option of virtual or in-person opportunities. Interns enjoy learning directly from executives over their summer experience. Following a robust internship, interns are able to interview for full time roles. Dell's internship is highly regarded and the company looks forward to an exciting summer ahead.
