Datadog employs virtual and in-person initiatives to source early career talent. Their trusted partners at Rewriting the Code and Colorstack have helped them engage with students from underrepresented backgrounds through summits and educational workshops. On campus, Datadog prioritizes quality interactions through small, targeted sessions, like a tech talk from a VP alum, which build the brand and give students the chance to meet leadership. In-office efforts in NYC and Boston create opportunities for students to immerse in Datadog's culture through Fall Networking Fests. Lastly, Datadog hosts virtual events for a more school-agnostic approach that provides candidates with a comprehensive understanding of Datadog, its products, and the interview process. This hybrid model enhances engagement and candidate experience, making Datadog a standout choice for early career hires.
Standout Candidate Experience
One of the Datadog campus team’s core goals is to provide a positive experience for every candidate. The intern interview process is posted for all applicants so that they know what to expect. For technical interviews, recruiters walk candidates through a prep guide to ensure they are set up for success. From application to onboarding, recruiters are transparent and communicative about next steps and feedback. In a post-interview campus candidate survey, more than 90% of respondents agreed that their recruiter prepared them well and that the recruiter and coordinator were communicative.
Impactful Internship Program
The impact of the Datadog internship program stems from community, meaningful work, and the potential to return full-time. Their internship is fully in office, so interns work in person with their teammates and attend excursions around the city, sunset cruises, game nights, etc. with their intern cohort. Interns routinely cite the fact that they already have a strong early-career network as a reason they return full-time! Additionally, interns are matched to teams whose technical domains, working styles, and project areas meet their interests. That, combined with the autonomy interns are given, helps them develop a passion for and investment in their work, which typically sees adoption during/beyond their internship.
