Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting

The Booz Allen University Recruiting and Relations Team is focused on building a strong employer brand and attracting the best talent. Leveraging technology has become more important than ever before to form relationships with candidates. In the fall of 2021, Booz Allen hosted a virtual interactive information session series, “Dream Big with Your Degree,” where students from any university were welcomed to attend and learn more about life at Booz Allen. A variety of other engagement efforts including virtual career fairs, national conferences, hackathons, coffee chats, resume and interview workshops provided touchpoints with prospective employees, regardless of location. In addition to events, candidates can join the firm’s virtual University Talent Community to receive content and updates catered to their interests and career goals, while learning more about the Booz Allen.

Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience

The Booz Allen University Recruiting and Relations team is focused on providing a memorable and engaging candidate experience for all applicants. Through various sourcing channels, the team's mission is to attract and hire the best and brightest future leaders. University recruiters are focused on learning about a candidate’s background, skills, and professional interests to align them with potential hiring opportunities. Leveraging school alumni and campus teams, candidates can ask questions and learn more about the culture and community at the firm. The annual Booz Allen Summer Games internship program also provides an immersive preview of life in consulting and technology. Simulating a real-world startup accelerator, the program offers students hands-on, real-world experience in developing solutions for clients’ most pressing problems in a collaborative team environment.

Investing in Impactful Internship Programs

Booz Allen Summer Games is an intensive, 10-week internship program that simulates a real-world startup accelerator. Interns are tasked with developing breakthrough ideas and solutions for client problems. Paired with Booz Allen mentors and assigned to a cross-functional team, interns work together in a collaborative environment to bring their ideas to life using techniques like design thinking, agile development, and rapid prototyping. After 10 weeks, interns present their work to a judging panel of Booz Allen leadership and only one team wins the coveted Summer Games Challenge Cup. Summer Games interns have tackled problems ranging from human trafficking to the opioid crisis and unmanned aerial vehicle safety. With a high intern-to-full-time conversion rate, it is a successful pipeline-building program bringing in future leaders to the firm.

Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent

Starting with a robust onboarding program, Booz Allen new hires are equipped with access to all the tools and resources needed for a successful start to a career at the firm. All employees are assigned an onboarding mentor to guide them on their employment journey. New hires are encouraged to drive their careers through networking and firm-sponsored funding and resources for training, degrees, and certifications that further their education and professional development. The Rising Leaders Forum is a group specifically intended for incoming university hires. This community offers leadership development opportunities outside of client work, as well as support, events, and networking.
