Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment

Black & Veatch’s core strategy for sourcing and recruiting students comes from traditional careers fairs and includes innovative avenues. For example, Black & Veatch implemented The Engineering Technician Accelerator Program which is an internal training program to learn technical drawing concepts and develop skills using computer based-drafting tools, such as AutoCAD and Revit. The program is 3-6 months and upon successful completion of the program, professionals will transition to an Engineering Technician 1 position. Another example, Black & Veatch held a Women in Construction event again this year for students to celebrate and recognize the contributions of women in engineering, network with other professionals, and empower women to thrive in their careers and make a lasting impact in the industry.

Black & Veatch has a focus on D&I initiatives related to Early Careers by building relationships with HBCU’s, presenting to student organizations, and participating in national conferences each year. Black & Veatch is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. Black & Veatch’s commitment to building a world of difference is also their pledge to ensure a world free of discrimination, bigotry, and divisiveness. As a company whose core Values include Respect, Integrity and Collaboration, they strive to provide an inclusive, collaborative and accessible culture that recognizes the innovation and creativity gained from different views and opinions. Incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion is critical to our success.

Impactful Internship Program

The Black & Veatch internship program offers hands-on meaningful opportunities to quickly advance learning and career path on projects that are making a difference for people and communities around the world. Interns collaborate with the industry’s best engineers, designers, project managers and innovators on real projects that have tangible results. When interns bring their insight, imagination, and a healthy disregard for the impossible, their internship can have an impact around the world. This past summer, Black & Veatch provided opportunities to interns to visit client sites to give visibility and insight of Black & Veatch’s work in the local communities. Additionally, interns enjoyed multiple social events through the summer to promote networking and fun outside of the office.
