Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment

The university recruiting team at Amplitude has been dedicated to enhancing the diversity of their workforce. The team built relationships and met in person with diverse student groups such as the Society of Black Scientists and Engineers, and the Chicanx Latinx Academic Student Development Center. The team also traveled to Austin, TX to participate at AfroTech and participated in the Rewriting the Code Virtual Career Summit. In addition, the team ran virtual events such as an info session targeted to female-identifying students on building a career in product analytics and an interview prep workshop hosted for students at HBCUs and HSIs. Once students enter the pipeline, the team at Amplitude focuses on maintaining a high-quality candidate experience with prompt response time, and candidate surveys to help identify areas for process improvements.

Standout Candidate Experience

The early careers team at Amplitude is laser-focused on candidate experience. They understand that any candidate who interacts with the brand has the potential to be a net promoter, and they don’t take that responsibility lightly. The team has set SLAs for response time to ensure that communication with candidates is timely at each process step. The team helps prepare candidates for their panel interviews and debriefs with each candidate to ensure all their questions are answered. At the offer stage, candidates are encouraged to talk to their families to deliberate and are welcome to connect with Amplitude employees. Surveys are sent out to candidates to measure their experience, and the team is mindful of continuing to optimize process improvements.

Innovative Use of Technology

The early career team at Amplitude is lean and heavily implements technology to reach their goals. The team leverages RippleMatch to quickly respond to candidates and automate responses to those who aren’t a match for the particular role that they’ve applied for. The team leverages a Talent Community to continue to nurture candidates and keep them in mind for future opportunities. The team has leveraged technology to successfully run impactful virtual events, as well as creating a “check-in” form to capture candidates' data from in-person events so we can continue to keep in touch and keep them updated in regard to future roles. The team also uses technology to assess funnel metrics, specifically with regard to diversity, to better understand where they may be falling short of their goals and can take action to ensure the team is diversifying their candidate pipelines and being mindful of the passthrough rates for all demographics. All of this action led the team to successfully fill 100% of their intern roles with candidates either identifying as female or from an underrepresented group.
