When shifting to a virtual internship and recruitment program, Thomson Reuters prioritized the wellbeing and professional development of interns and candidates. The team had a packed calendar of virtual events for interns and prospective candidates, all of which showcased life at Thomson Reuters and helped students gain valuable professional skills.

Summer Internship Program
Thomson Reuters’ prioritized intern safety, wellbeing, and development when considering how to adapt their program. The team consulted with senior business leaders to ensure interns could be fully supported virtually, engage in meaningful work, and have access to additional development opportunities. With the green light, the team put together a creative and engaging program, integrating interns into Thomson Reuters’ agile culture and doubling the number of intern events to support to make sure interns felt welcomed and connected with other team members.
Virtual Recruitment
The Thomson Reuters team knew that many students would be missing the regular in-person events and connections that normally happen on campus, so the team hosted their own events this year to connect with a wide range of candidates. A new addition this year was hosting a diversity, equity, and inclusion-focused sales series and a ‘Becoming a Leader in Finance’ series so students could learn from and network with in-house professionals and new grads. The team also created an engaging information session deck, internal college champions alumni program, and intern ambassador program that showcased intern accomplishments at Thomson Reuters.
Candidate Experience
Thomson Reuters has always provided an engaging candidate experience, and the early career team worked hard to ensure this recruiting season would be no different. Thomson Reuters' team implemented new technologies that would allow them to screen more candidates and utilized social media to increase engagement. The team also implemented new grad selection committees this year that provided candidates with a better idea of life at Thomson Reuters, and who helped assess students' aptitude and attitude.
Diversity and Inclusion
Thomson Reuters is committed to inclusive hiring practices, fostering an environment that encourages new ways of thinking and working, and appreciating what people share in common. To continue the company’s focus on recruiting diverse candidates, Thomson Reuters’ early career team sponsored several initiatives while providing professional education workshops, networking, and co-op / internship opportunities with SheHacks, National Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Black Accountants, Native American & Hispanic Business Student Association, Women in Business, and more.
Congratulations to Thomson Reuters for their accomplishments this past year. RippleMatch is proud to recognize Thomson Reuters in our 2021 Campus Forward Awards for their commitment toward the next generation of talent.
