T-Mobile held a fully virtual program this summer that was so successful the company plans on offering both a virtual and hybrid internship option for 2021. Additionally, innovation in the recruiting process has allowed T-Mobile recruiters to increase their campus reach by over 100%.

Summer Internship Program
T-Mobile is dedicated to offering internships where students are able to actively contribute their unique perspectives. That’s why this year the early career team pivoted to running a fully virtual program in 2020. The campus team prioritized creating a valuable summer experience for students despite the unprecedented year and were able to maintain programs across various business functions including customer service, technology, marketing, retail, strategy, and more. This year’s remote program was so successful that the T-Mobile team plans to offer both virtual and hybrid internship options for 2021.
Virtual Recruitment
T-Mobile showcased their support for 2020 students by increasing their online presence and connecting with students via social media. A great example of this, was when T-Mobile hosted the Tik Tok #TossYourCap Challenge – for every video using the hashtag, T-Mobile donated $5 up to $200,000 to Jobs for America’s Graduates (a non profit dedicated to helping youth reach economic and academic success).
Candidate Experience
T-Mobile recognized that this was an unpredictable and stressful time for students, so it was imperative that the team create a positive candidate experience. T-Mobile recruiters increased their cadence of candidate communications to help students feel more comfortable in the process. The team also added game and video assessments into their virtual hiring process to create a more personalized feel for candidates.
Diversity and Inclusion
T-Mobile is dedicated to building a network full of individuals being bold, thinking differently and making a difference. That’s why D&I has always been a pillar of this organization. Leveling the playing field starts at the entry level, which is why the early career team invests heavily in reaching diverse early career talent. In addition to a partnership with Thurgood Marshall to reach top HBCU students, the early career team also attends a number of diversity driven national conferences and partners with HSI’s and MSI’s across the nation.
