Stanley Black & Decker’s tight-knit team worked closely to successfully transition to a virtual recruiting strategy this year. The team implemented new technologies and new outreach methods, allowing them to engage with students on a personal level despite the remote setting.

Virtual Recruitment
As the pandemic forced teams to go virtual, Stanley Black & Decker embraced more technology and platforms to reach student populations. Some tools include LinkedIn, Zoom, and Handshake. The close-knit nature of Stanley Black & Decker’s campus team made it easier to shift to a virtual strategy and align on messaging and recruitment activity, creating consistency across all candidate experiences and outreach efforts.
Candidate Experience
To build a more personalized experience for candidates, the recruiting team tapped into existing Stanley Black & Decker team members and asked them to be company ambassadors at their alma maters. Not only did this expand the talent team’s reach, but it strengthened employer brand and helped students forge a personal connection with the company.
Diversity and Inclusion
This year Stanley Black & Decker came out in a Statement of Solidarity declaring that “we are those who demand justice, take a stand for equality and commit to inclusivity for all.” The company signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion and is also a part of the Business Roundtable Diversity & Inclusion Index, recognized Transgender Day of Remembrance, and implemented a 2030 Global Social Responsibility Strategy to prioritize gender equality in the workplace.
