Rockwell Automation remained committed to their interns and entry-level employees this year, focusing on students’ growth and development even during the unprecedented shift to remote work. Additionally, the team leveraged new technologies, such as virtual career fairs and conferences, to fill their pipelines with a diverse slate of talented candidates.
Read on for some of the highlights of Rockwell Automation's innovative approach to college recruiting and why they were named a 2021 Campus Forward Honoree in RippleMatch's Campus Forward Awards.
Summer Internship Program
Rockwell Automation remained committed to its early career talent, despite the global pandemic. The early career team approached summer 2020 internships, as well as new grad hires with multiple options, from fully virtual to delayed start dates. Ultimately, as the company learned more about COVID-19, the team transitioned all early career positions to fully virtual in the United States and Canada. Rockwell Automation acted quickly and communicated often with students, showcasing their strength as an agile company while remaining dedicated to students’ growth and development.
Virtual Recruitment
Rockwell Automation didn’t let the shift to virtual slow them down – the team attended 39 virtual career fairs and met with just as many candidates, if not more, than last fall. Outside of career fairs, the team utilized technology throughout the entire recruiting process to engage with candidates, including: finding creative ways to promote their employer brand, leveraging sourcing, and utilizing on-demand video platforms for interviewing in place of typical on-campus interviews.
Candidate Experience
To ensure a positive candidate experience the Rockwell Automation team invested time in learning the ins and outs of the several recruiting and career fair platforms. They also personalized communication with candidates, sending out encouraging reminders prior to events and getting to know candidates on an individual basis during virtual events.
Diversity and Inclusion
Recruiting diverse candidates comes in many forms at Rockwell Automation, including partnerships with national diversity organizations such as SWE, NSBE, and SHPE. The Rockwell Team has attended these conferences for several years but recently increased their presence and focus at these events with the addition of Rockwell’s Diversity Recruitment Team. Additionally, Rockwell Automation partners with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), providing lab equipment to support learning Rockwell products, participating in the university corporate councils, hosting executive visits, and actively participating in the campus career fairs.
Congratulations to Rockwell Automation for their accomplishments this past year. RippleMatch is proud to recognize Rockwell Automation in our 2021 Campus Forward Awards for their commitment toward the next generation of talent.
