PFM remained committed to student success this year. In addition to hosting an engaging internship program, the company also released free training videos for applicants as an educational opportunity, and launched a new formal mentorship program for rising talent at the company.
Read on for some of the highlights of PFM's innovative approach to college recruiting and why they were named a 2021 Campus Forward Honoree in RippleMatch's Campus Forward Awards.
Summer Internship Program
Facing the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, PFM evolved their internship program in just three weeks. This included the creation of a centralized internship program where all the summer interns participated in centralized learning and professional development workshops for 10-15 hours per week. Interns also participated in a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion series, as DEI is an integral part of who PFM is and what they value as a company. Additionally, interns took part in events that fostered community and new professional connections, such as Networking Bingo.
Virtual Recruitment
PFM expanded their recruitment efforts and coordinated over 40 virtual events ranging from information sessions to career fairs, reaching students across the nation and maximizing resources. PFM is most proud of the Free Virtual Webinars they hosted for students, which gave them new technical skills like excel shortcuts and a broader understanding of what is involved in a municipal bond deal that’s not taught in the classroom.
Candidate Experience
The PFM team strives to create a positive candidate experience through efficient communication and personal connection. Communication prior to final round interviews include email notifications, reminders, and notice of who candidates will be interviewing with. After every final round interview, PFM strives to update candidates that will receive offers within 24 business hours of the interview.
Diversity and Inclusion
PFM works hard to recruit, retain, and support a diverse slate of candidates. The Campus team actively engages members of their Significant Interest Groups to lead the charge for establishing new university and student organization relationships and act as the “face” of information sessions when engaging with students, which allows candidates to see the broad and diverse talent at PFM firsthand. PFM also developed a program called “Cultivate,” which created a formal mentorship structure for rising PFMers and fosters an internal pipeline of inclusive leaders at PFM.
