Horizon Media worked hard to provide students with educational events throughout the year. The team connected with students through events like “Navigating Unchartered Territory” and the Campus Summer Series, which emphasized Horizon Media’s investment in and commitment to early career talent.

Summer Internship Program
Traditionally, Horizon Media’s internship program focuses on education, real world application and collaboration. This year, to make necessary adaptations to the program, Horizon Media developed a virtual Campus Summer Series where students across the U.S. could register for a series of four sessions over the course of a month. These sessions focused on the fundamentals of the media space, provided an opportunity to connect with employees across all levels, and concluded with a session led by Horizon recruiters on resume and interview best practices. After these sessions, students had the chance to directly apply or interview for entry level opportunities across Horizon’s NY and LA offices.
Horizon Media had a strong virtual presence and reach prior to COVID-19, making the transition relatively seamless. At the onset of the pandemic, the early career team reached out to campus partners to discuss how they could best continue information sessions, career fairs, classroom training, and more. After securing virtual events with existing partners, the team expanded their scope of schools and partnerships. To date, the team at Horizon Media successfully attended over 32 different campus initiatives, made possible by their ability to increase campus volunteers to over 100 Horizon employees.
Horizon Media’s recruitment team prides themselves on response and feedback. The team ensures they are connecting in real time with each applicant and sharing transparent feedback with candidates. Such attention to detail has been the reason why Horizon Media is ranked by Glassdoor as one of the best places to interview: a standard Horizon Media continues to uphold.
Diversity and Inclusion
DEI is a priority at Horizon Media and the company’s vision is to be an organization of belonging. Horizon plans to achieve this vision through recruitment and retention strategies, along with their DEI council. Recruitment teams at Horizon partner with various external organizations and schools that support a community of students from diverse backgrounds, which allows the early career team to attract diverse entry-level talent and helps bridge the gap by exploring a market of great talent that is outside of the norm of the traditional media world.
