Eaton switched to a virtual internship and recruiting process this year, utilizing new technologies and integrating new events. Their hard work and creativity contributed to the company’s best-ever intern-to-full-time offer acceptance ratio of 97%.
Read on for some of the highlights of Eaton's innovative approach to college recruiting and why they were named a 2021 Campus Forward Honoree in RippleMatch's Campus Forward Awards.
Summer Internship Program
To make their virtual internship a success, the Eaton team partnered directly with program managers to provide each intern with a project charter and launched a new program within the internship: The Internship Learning Series. For this series, Eaton leaders recorded videos about learning and the importance of being a life-long learner at Eaton, and the early career team created a robust 6-week curriculum to provide interns with Eaton-specific learning like communication, culture, and innovation. The enhancements made to Eaton’s virtual program helped contribute to the company’s best-ever intern-to-full-time offer acceptance ratio of 97%.
Eaton’s university relations team decided to create a similar recruiting experience to what candidates would receive during an on-campus recruiting season. To achieve this, the team hosted virtual information sessions for students at their target universities that may have missed out on events during the spring recruiting season. This was followed by a range of engaging virtual events like interview and resume workshops, and “A Day in the Life” event featuring Eaton engineers to give students better insight into life at Eaton.
Eaton’s early career team has a Campus Manager assigned to each program that they hire for, ensuring each candidate in consideration has an active contact to reach out to. Campus Managers introduce candidates to the program managers and coordinate scheduling, allowing the program manager to call the candidate directly, present an offer, and walk the candidate through the offer – providing a truly supportive experience during a challenging time.
Diversity and Inclusion
This year, Eaton Campus Managers actively partnered with diverse student organizations, working with each group's leadership team to determine the most meaningful topics for their students. Eaton leveraged their diversity employee resource groups to host virtual events for students that gave better insight into the unique and collaborative culture at Eaton. Eaton is also an active partner of many national diversity conferences like NBMBAA, SHPE, SWE, and NSBE, participating in career fairs, presentations, and workshops.
Congratulations to Eaton for their accomplishments this past year. RippleMatch is proud to recognize Eaton in our 2021 Campus Forward Awards for their commitment toward the next generation of talent.
