BMO expanded their student reach this year through their virtual roadshow ‘BMO Days,’ which enabled the team to connect with 64 campuses and reach over 1,600 students. The team also continued to share information with students authentically through their Campus Influencer program, which was made up of 70% BIPOC students this year.
Read on for some of the highlights of BMO's innovative approach to college recruiting and why they were named a 2021 Campus Forward Honoree in RippleMatch's Campus Forward Awards.
Summer Internship Program
This year, BMO pivoted to a fully virtual internship program. Students were placed into Cohort groups and participated in engaging learning programs, social connectivity activities and an Innovation Challenge, where they worked within their BMO First Friend groups to come up with post-Covid banking recommendations that aligned with BMO’s mission. In addition to the strong community BMO fostered among interns, students had the opportunity to work on fulfilling projects and grow their skills while working directly with their manager and BMO team.
Virtual Recruitment
BMO’s Campus Team launched BMO Days, a virtual recruitment campaign which enabled the team to connect with 64 campuses and reach over 1,600 students. This virtual roadshow included daily BMO Insight Sessions, Recruiter Hangouts and special events with various school associations and clubs, giving students an opportunity to learn about exciting internship, co-op and new graduate opportunities while engaging with the campus recruitment team and BMO business representatives.
Candidate Experience
At BMO, the Campus Team strives to ensure a positive candidate experience for student job seekers. Since being unable to meet candidates in person or attend on campus events, recruiters have ramped up the amount of virtual coffee chats and skill development sessions hosted for students. The team also utilized a video interviewing tool to ensure they were able to review candidate applications in a very efficient manner while maintaining personalization.
Diversity and Inclusion
In line with BMO’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace, BMO campus recruiters ensure they are putting a diverse slate of candidates forward to hiring managers. One of the key strategies in which they support their diversity recruiting goals is ensuring they have a diverse makeup of BMO Campus Influencers, students that act as an extension of the BMO campus recruitment team by sharing BMO specific information and outreach to their own unique and diverse networks. This year, the team of campus influencers was made up of 70% BIPOC students.
Congratulations to BMO for their accomplishments this past year. RippleMatch is proud to recognize BMO in our 2021 Campus Forward Awards for their commitment toward the next generation of talent.
