In 2020, every industry faced new challenges in light of the pandemic. Despite new hurdles, Anheuser-Busch continued to honor its commitment to higher education by adopting a new approach to recruiting practices and internship events. The company’s immersive 8-week summer program was adjusted to provide interns with the opportunity to work remotely while gaining real-world experience through projects, mentorship, and on-the-job learning and networking opportunities. Anheuser-Busch’s early career team also introduced a new recruiting program this year, integrating more interactive events that reached over 70,000 students across 49 states.
Read on for some of the highlights of Anheuser-Busch's innovative approach to college recruiting and why they were named a 2021 Campus Forward Honoree in RippleMatch's Campus Forward Awards.
Summer Internship Program
Anheuser-Busch rose to challenges posed by COVID-19 with their immersive 8-week virtual experience. The early career team worked hard to ensure that the virtual learning experience they built showcased their organization, internal initiatives, and priorities, and replicated the in-person experience. These initiatives included peer mentorship, leadership virtual chats focused on capabilities, and I&D learning opportunities and events. The interactive virtual internship experience Anheuser-Busch created was extremely successful and resulted in the highest intern to full-time hire conversion rate in years.
Anheuser-Busch’s ability to quickly adapt to the new normal resulted in a number of thoughtful new strategies to reach students virtually. These strategies included hosting engaging virtual recruitment sessions using zoom breakout rooms, interactive workshops, case competitions and leadership exposure. Event registration was streamlined through the RippleMatch platform, and garnered over 60 students for every event. Anheuser-Busch also collaborated with other early-career leaders at RippleMatch’s Community Chats to share ideas and learn from other program leaders to ensure the team was well prepared for preserving the candidate experience in an unprecedented year.
Anheuser-Busch has built their recruitment and selection process to cater to the needs of the Gen Z job seeker. For example, the team implemented technologies like RippleMatch and Pymetrics to ensure candidates have a top notch, personalized experience. Anheuser-Busch also involved their employee base in the interview process, providing students with better insight into the value the company places on their people.
Diversity and Inclusion
Anheuser-Busch’s approach to recruitment this year was university agnostic, meaning the focus was on the candidate profile and not the school they attended. RippleMatch made this strategy come to life by allowing the team to host open virtual recruitment events, which reached over 70K students across 49 states and 700+ schools. They also launched several internship programs with their I&D partners including UNCF and Make-A-Play in addition to longstanding partnerships with organizations including MLT, HSF, AdFellows, NSBE and more.
Congratulations to Anheuser-Busch for their accomplishments this past year. RippleMatch is proud to recognize Anheuser-Busch in our 2021 Campus Forward Awards for their commitment toward the next generation of talent.
