The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
Zynga was selected as a 2023 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent, their emphasis on diversity & inclusion, and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring
The Early Careers team at Zynga is committed to sourcing, engaging, developing, and retaining passionate and driven individuals. This next generation of talent are the future leaders of the company, so Zynga prioritizes intern recruitment that results in conversion, meaning smaller, more concentrated classes of programs. Because Zynga is able to deeply invest in its early talent, retention and performance success are proven. Zynga is proud to continue building an equitable, best-in-class program through vast university partnerships world wide, and focused DE&I strategies.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
The Early Careers team is hyperfocused on creating a true diverse talent pipeline for all levels of talent, beginning at the entry-level stage. This is done through sourcing tools such as Untapped and Handshake, hosting resume and interview prep sessions with partnering universities, and much more. Zynga’s Early Careers team is also bringing leaders from the business to speak with candidates directly about their experiences, day-to-day activities, and how they experience the Zynga culture. Because Zynga is always actively pipelining for early career opportunities, these candidates can expect frequent communication from staff, and having a point of contact to connect with moving forward.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Zynga is dedicated to bringing an inclusive gaming experience to users worldwide. That’s why the Early Careers team operates with DE&I as the front lens by maintaining an inclusive recruitment process and continuing to diversify what the gaming world looks like. Zynga is proud to partner with a number of HBCUs, such as Spelman and North Carolina A&T, delivering program scholarships and mentorship; as well as national organizations like YearUp, bridging the gap between non-traditional educational backgrounds and the workforce. Internally, the team does direct pipelining work with Employee Resource Groups. When looking at programming for present individuals, Zynga offers a number of mentorship programs, community engagement opportunities, as well as personal and professional development opportunities.
Impactful Internship Program
Joining Zynga for an internship means being integrated right into its teams, working on real time game development or adding to releases. Interns are encouraged to be creative, take the initiative on integrating their own ideas, and they have a say in what they want to work on. Interns are given both a direct manager and mentor to assist with their continued development throughout the term. In addition, interns are part of the Zynga culture from day one, and are invited to attend events such as holiday celebrations held in office and virtually, DE&I workshops hosted by the employee resource groups, and learning and development sessions, which is a great opportunity to dive into the community of employees contributing to and building a positive experience.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
Zynga runs a robust and engaging rotational program for new graduates, setting up entry-level employees for the opportunity for exploration during two, six-month rotations while laying down roots for where they want to be following the completion of the rotation program. Zynga offers one week of onboarding and training, where rotational hires participate in practical and technical sessions from speakers across the organization, and attend panel discussions with previous rotational hires and L&D sessions focused on skill building and professional development. New hires are matched with mentors who provide support throughout the two rotations, and receive continued feedback from managers and check-ins with the program manager.
