The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
West Monroe was selected as a 2023 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent, their emphasis on diversity & inclusion, and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring
West Monroe is building the next generation of leaders. In fact, it’s their mission, and they are incredibly passionate about hiring and developing the firm’s next generation through their campus program. They know that their people are our most important asset. Therefore, they are purposeful in recruiting the best and brightest to ensure our early talent has a standout experience and want to continue their career at West Monroe. West Monroe has an award-winning internship program and inclusion and diversity strategies are just a few of the campus initiatives that help us recruit the best and build a great program.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
West Monroe campus recruiting provides an exceptional experience for campus candidates looking to explore a career in digital services and consulting. They have adopted a hybrid recruiting approach which has allowed them to attend and host over 140 events during the Fall of 2022, including consulting interview workshops, inclusion and diversity events, in-person career fairs and virtual webinars, all of which provided students with strategic face-to-face interaction. West Monroe places the utmost importance on campus hiring as it builds the firms’ next generation of leaders.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) is one of West Monroe’s core values and they are committed to I&D in its hiring efforts across the organization. Their teams build meaningful relationships with diverse partnerships, student organizations such as Grace Hopper, Blacks in Technology, NSBE and ALPFA as well as HBCUs through events and career fairs. West Monroe provides and encourages employees at all levels to participate in our six Employee Resource Groups, mentorship opportunities, career development programs, and more.
Impactful Internship Program
West Monroe’s internship program was created with the firms’ mission of building the next generation of leaders in mind. Their primary goal is ensuring their interns have an opportunity to contribute to meaningful hands-on work and experience what a true career in consulting looks like, all while experiencing their award-winning culture. A highlight was the Intern Summer Conference, where West Monroe flew summer interns to our headquarters in Chicago and hosted all 240 Summer 2022 interns in-person. Created with the intern at the forefront, they made the experience memorable. The conference featured sessions such as a keynote with their CEO, a panel with Employee Resource Groups, and a client shared insights into ways to add value as a consultant. With a theme of summertime Chicago, they aimed to get everyone out of their offices and face-to-face to network and meet one another. The interns met folks across project teams and practices, an opportunity that doesn’t often present itself. The event brought light to the program and helped them recommit to making sure their interns had a well-rounded experience.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
West Monroe has a robust onboarding program for our campus hires. They place a emphasis that these hires have chosen West Monroe as the place they want to start their careers, and they take every effort to set them up for success on day one. After completing a week long training with all new hires around firm norms and consulting best practices, new hires complete 1-2 weeklong bootcamps specific to the practice they’re joining. They meet teammates from across the country, learn from other former campus hires, network with leaders, and are equipped with resources to help guide their first few months on the job. All campus hires have a Career Advisor and a Transition Coach who are responsible for development and ensuring a smooth integration to the practice and firm. Finally, they host a 6-month check-in with their new hires to see how they’ve been ramping up on the job
