Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

The campus recruitment team at TransUnion developed a hybrid recruitment strategy that involves visiting campuses both virtually and in-person. Through University partnerships, the team has multiple touch points with the students on campus to build awareness of TransUnion as an employer of choice. TransUnion associates have spoken in classrooms, tabled at the respective colleges, attended career fairs, and hosted informational sessions with diverse student organizations. TransUnion participates in national conferences like Grace Hopper and National Black MBA Association to recruit top national talent and bring real-life examples from TransUnion’s business to educate the next generation. The team at TransUnion shares not only about the organization and what it does, but how students and entry-level talent can enhance their resumes, interview effectively, and thrive in their career.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

TransUnion begins engaging with talent from diverse backgrounds starting in high school. The team achieves this through internships and sponsorships of non-profit organizations like Genesys Works, Chicago Tech Academy, and others. TransUnion works with various diverse student organizations to partner in hosting career and professional development workshops. The workshops allow TransUnion to provide insights to talent about navigating a career in a corporate setting. During the recruitment process, TransUnion provides guidance to applicants on how to best prepare for their interview process. The team at TransUnion also has partnerships at a national level with HACE and participates in yearly conferences for NBMBAA, ROMBA, and Grace Hopper. These partnerships allow attendance into the career expos to network with talent and gives associates of TransUnion an opportunity to participate in speaking engagements.

Impactful Internship Program

TransUnion ensures interns have a great end-to-end experience by working on real projects that help them develop their skills and prepare them for a full-time opportunity. Interns at TransUnion are also given the opportunity to participate in workshops on professional development, hosted by TransUnion’s very own career coach. Interns can also participate in TransUnion hosted networking events with peers, and attend lunch and learns from various businesses across TransUnion — creating an environment of knowledge-sharing and granting further insight into teams within the organization. Even though internships at most organizations only last for the summer, TransUnion’s intent is to treat interns like an associate with the same ambiguity, thought leadership, and resources that are provided to the rest of the organization. For those who don’t end up joining TransUnion for an internship, the team still works to give talent the best knowledge and insights with the intention of providing information for good to everyone they interact with.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

The team at TransUnion ensures that new hires participate in orientation sessions to familiarize themselves with the culture, resources, and tools available to them. During the onboarding and orientation experience at TransUnion, entry-level talent is given access to a network of new-hires in all stages of their career. Through these sessions, associates are given exposure to a network of leaders, managers and individual contributors across the organization. Entry-level hires are also set up with tools to develop their career, including access to TransUnion’s career coach whenever they are needing one-on-one coaching or development outside of what their direct manager provides. Each entry-level hire at TransUnion is also assigned a “buddy” to help them throughout their transition period and as they navigate their new role.
