Interns and co-ops are empowered to take ownership of real-world projects, collaborate to solve complex challenges, and share innovative ideas at its North American headquarters, R&D facilities, manufacturing plants, sales and field offices, and beyond.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
The College Programs team at Toyota Motor North America goes above and beyond to connect with the next generation of talent both on and off campus. Developing a hybrid approach to recruitment, the team was able to connect with students both virtually and on campus through various events such as information sessions, engagement opportunities, and industry panels. The team built strong partnerships with HBCUs and HSIs and created a more intentional strategy to its recruiting efforts.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
The College Programs team at Toyota is very passionate about the work it does to connect students with resources from its business partner groups, provide mentorships, as well as create a formal network of fellow interns and co-ops. The team has strong partnerships with Rainbow Push, SHPE, SWE, NSBE, and ALPFA organizations.
Impactful Internship Program
At Toyota, interns are empowered with impactful projects that contribute to real business outcomes, in addition to an inclusive, welcoming experience. As a hybrid internship program, interns have the chance to gain real-world experience with the benefits of flexible work schedules, leaving time for plenty of community building on top of exciting technical and non-technical projects. Interns also have the chance to learn from company executives during a speaker series sessions, as well as final presentations presented to business leaders. These components are part of Toyota's significant investment in early career talent, leading to a high intern return offer rate.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
Toyota goes above and beyond to set up its new full-time hires for long-term success at the company. Starting with a robust onboarding, entry-level hires are provided not only with on-the-job training, but the building blocks for professional success at the company. Within the first 6 months, new hires are given the option to participate in a dedicated mentorship program, as well as regular career-mapping check-ins. Individuals who are a part of Toyota's selective leadership development rotational program are provided with even more support and professional development, given the opportunity to explore different career paths within the company before solidifying their long-term professional focus.
