Thermo Fisher Scientific’s engagement success this year was built to help drive more diversity and inclusion into the early talent population. The team created multiple virtual events catered to underrepresented groups to allow for more 1:1 interaction with senior-level leaders while still focused on topical subject matters candidates are passionate about.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
The team at Thermo Fisher Scientific understands that for early talent to have the best candidate experience, they need to feel welcomed from the start of the application process. That’s why they implemented an augmented writing tool to ensure job descriptions are compelling and focused on inclusivity. Additionally, a team of early talent recruiters conducts the first interaction with candidates to help them feel more of a connection to someone who's also a recent graduate and can speak to what the experience for early talent looks like at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
To ensure the early talent pipeline is focused on diversity and inclusion, Thermo Fisher Scientific has forged new relationships with partner HBCUs and created a Black Voices series highlighting leaders within the organization. In addition to that, the company invested heavily in diversity conferences, acting as a key sponsor for several diversity organization conferences in 2021.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, interns are given real-life experience partnering with leaders in the space. Focused on developing future leaders of the organization, interns gain exposure to leaders across multiple functions and regions to identify where they can grow within the organization.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
Thermo Fisher Scientific has designed a program for recent university graduates with the purpose of future-proofing the workforce and building future talent pipelines. Throughout the new graduate onboarding experience, they experience a learning and development curriculum that will include practical learning, industry recognized training and certifications, peer support and on-the-job experiences.
