The university relations team at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies believes in the potential of all students, and works to engage students from a broad range of majors and backgrounds. By focusing on personal interactions and targeted engagement while leveraging technology, the team at Cincinnati has expanded its footprint and recruiting outcomes. Early career work with campus partners has resulted in higher levels of engagement and applications for internships and entry-level roles. Cincinnati is active on campuses and proudly partners with career centers and faculty to be more than just a participant in the annual career fair. Cincinnati enjoys being a part of core career development activities and helping students to discover their passions and interests.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies want all associates to feel respected and to feel that their voice is heard. To put that into meaningful action, the company hired dedicated staff and are committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within the company. Cincinnati’s DEI program focuses on exploring unconscious bias, increasing engagement with HBCUs and creating associate resource groups to increase networking and coaching opportunities for associates of underrepresented groups. By building unity across all backgrounds and disciplines, Cincinnati Insurance will become stronger as a company, better able to serve its customers and bring value to its communities.

Impactful Internship Program

Interns are integrated into teams at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies from their first day and given real, impactful work. By being embedded with associates, they learn from the best and quickly gain confidence and knowledge of their roles and the insurance industry. All interns are given the opportunity to learn about a range of departments, roles, and groups through 30–60-minute virtual sessions each week. Several business units host interns for short job shadows to help them better understand how all of the work and teams are interconnected. And, while there is no official rotation program for interns, they are encouraged to meet with leaders across the business to learn about future opportunities as interns or post-graduate roles. It is common for interns to spend several semesters with Cincinnati, either exploring different areas of business or building on their expertise in a dedicated area.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies build a network of support and resources around each person. From tools and information on the company’s internal website, to regular interaction with department leadership, new hires are surrounded by teammates dedicated to their success. There are Employee Resource Groups that Cincinnati associates can join based on their interests, including the Cincinnati African American Network (CAAN), Veteran Associates Support Team (VAST), Women in Insurance (WINS), Pride (LGBTQ+) and Propelling Professionals Forward (PROPel).PROPel is a group of driven professionals committed to networking, empowering, and supporting each other through professional, social, and individual growth. At meetings, associates take turns presenting on topics of their choosing. Past presentations include Mentorship in the Workplace, Networking, Know Your Audience, How to Be an Ally at Work and Types of Bias.New hires are invited to 30-60-minute virtual sessions to learn about the company, various roles/departments, and the insurance industry.
