Terminix believes the more opportunities they have to position themselves as partners and advisors to students and colleges, the stronger their relationships will become and the more effective the recruitment efforts will be. Terminix works with a number of local organizations as well as university career services departments to find ways to connect with students outside of traditional campus fairs. For many early in their career, the experience with Terminix could be their first experience in the job market, and Terminix very much believes they must ensure the student has a positive experience every step of the way. By creating a sense trust early on with the candidate and positioning the recruiters more as advisors throughout the process, candidates feel as though they can rely on the Terminix recruiter for more than just status updates, but also interview and resume tips. Terminix works very closely with their Business Resource Groups to develop and foster community partnerships to aid in recruitment and also ensure, once hired, teammates are connected quickly with members of various BRGs to build relationships and community in the workplace. Terminix works with local partners to provide internships and mentoring opportunities to at-risk youth, and Terminix also leverages a diversity recruiting platform to help source and identify top talent across the US. There is also extensive interview training on eliminating unconscious bias that all hiring managers are required to complete.

Through multi-point mentoring (each interns has a supervisor as well as a mentoring partner and receives the opportunity to in turn mentor a high school student), Terminix creates an experience where students can develop professionally and personally. Terminix also ensures interns not only learn about their assigned departments, but also partner cross-functionally in projects throughout the program. Terminix believes that hosting interns is not an opportunity for the company to complete tasks, but that it is an opportunity for the company to develop their future leaders.
