Tektronix believes that investing in early career talent is important because it is these candidates that will continue to innovate and impact the future. Investing in the next generation of talent allows Tek to explore the boundaries of what is possible. Tek has spent time ensuring that every level of employee, from intern through executive, feels empowered to work on meaningful work. By challenging entry-level employees to aspire high, matter more, and distinguish themselves, Tek is able to push the boundaries in science and technology to make tomorrow better, today.

Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

The University team at Tektronix believes in a holistic approach to recruiting and maintaining top talent. There are many people within Tek that make the success of its recruitment and retention possible, from the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Leader to the Vice President of Engineering, both of whom dedicate their time to ensure that Yek are on the cutting edge of recruitment. This year, Tek has established a program that will give candidates access to the learning and development tools Tek has to offer as soon as they accept an offer — because Tektronix doesn’t believe in waiting for the first day to invest in a candidate’s future. Tektronix has also worked closely with the TekFoundation to ensure that different universities have the funds necessary for students to get involved. Tek recognizes that the transition between college and career is stressful already and strives to keep the process as simple as possible.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Inclusion, Diversity and Equity are the pillars of Tektronix’s employee and candidate experience. Tektronix’s University Team has partnered with Employee Resource Groups to bring specific events, such as Woman In Technology day, to Oregon State University. Tek has focused on partnerships with diversity organizations like SWE, NSBE, SHPE, and oSTEM, both nationally and, even more importantly, at the local level. Tek has also built out a mentorship program for students from underrepresented populations, developed recruiting strategies for outreach to minority-serving institutions, and monetarily invested in diversity clubs and scholarship programs at target schools.

Impactful Internship Program

Tektronix believes that its internship program should offer interns an opportunity to experience what their career could be. Tek doesn’t believe in busy work, but in engaging interns in cohorts that allow them to work on meaningful and impactful projects. Tek interns will have the opportunity to see a project through from beginning to end, and give final recommendations on how to move forward with the work that has been accomplished. Each intern at Tek is paired with a manager, project sponsor and mentor to ensure that the intern has plenty of resources to facilitate their success.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

Tektronix believes that its most powerful tool is the employee. At Tek, each employee is introduced to the Development for Growth initiative. Continuous learning is in Tek’s DNA and encourages employees to apply a growth mindset to learn, grow, adapt, and remain competitive as business changes. A robust immersion plan is created for each new employee, ensuring that they have the network and training that is necessary for their success. Each new hire works with their manager to create a development plan that tracks where they want to go in the future and how they’re going to get there. A mentorship plan is also developed for each new hire, connecting them to people that can assist them, not just in daily tasks but in career exploration and development.
