Shannon Tenney - Nominee for Talent Innovator Award

Shannon is the University Recruiting Manager at Synchrony. In this role, she oversees nationwide university recruitment for the Externship, Internship, and early-career Business Leadership Program. Supporting 10 business lines and 8 employee resource groups, she is responsible for development and execution of the campus recruitment strategy for each unique company division. Prior to this role, Shannon was the University Recruiter for Lane Construction in sourcing engineering talent for internships and full-time employment. Shannon strives for a positive and impactful recruitment experience for each student in identifying their ideal career.

Career Highlight

Shannon implemented the Pre-Hire Engagement Program to offer a variety of opportunities for new-hire students to engage with Synchrony prior to their start date. The program includes a designated Buddy for each student to meet with monthly to develop a friendship with a member of their team prior to their first day, a monthly newsletter with company updates, and a welcome-gift to ensure each student feels a part of their new Synchrony family. Students expressed feeling more connected to the company through this program and were less likely to explore other employment opportunities.
