The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
RingCentral was selected as a 2024 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of diverse talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Innovative Use of Technology
One of RingCentral’s core values is innovation and implementing new technologies plays a pivotal role in innovating how the company operates. Partnering with RippleMatch, RingCentral automates candidate sourcing and streamlines candidate review. An integration with Workday makes the sourcing to interview and hire process seamless. Once hired, RingCentral uses the company’s own product portfolio to engage with new hires before and after their start date. From day one of the internship program, the interns are active on RingCentral’s Message, Video, & Phone platform. Onboarding, events, meetings, project work, all take place via the video platform while engagement via the message platform is constant. Webinar platform comes in handy at the end of the program when intern’s present their program project to the entire company.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Underrepresented talent historically lacks opportunity in the technology space and RingCentral utilizes early career recruitment to help bridge that gap. By working with schools with large underrepresented minority populations we position our programs for greater diversity representation. By also implementing school agnostic recruitment efforts, such as virtual info sessions open to all students, opportunities are open to a wider variety of backgrounds. Utilizing RippleMatch’s diverse talent pool aligns URGs with open roles at RingCentral. When it comes to retaining diverse talent, RingCentral is proud of our nine inclusive employee resource groups, which interns and early career hires are exposed to on their first day. To strengthen that engagement, interns are paired with an active member from an ERG to establish a lasting, mutually beneficial mentor relationship.
Impactful Internship Program
RingCentral’s internship program is structured around four goals: real work experience & insight, personal development, networking, and having fun. As a small program, the team has flexibility to provide 1:1 attention, implementing feedback in real time, and strategically planning each day of the internship. Every meeting, event, and activity the intern participates in achieves one of those program goals. Lunch and learns, coffee chats, RingTern pals, mentorships, trivia - are just a few of the program offerings. The program culminates with Disrupt, where interns present innovative product proposals to leadership with the potential of being put into production. RingTern’s exit the program with new connections, industry and department knowledge, professional skills, and an enjoyable 10 weeks that will benefit them in all their future endeavors.
