Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
In a year of challenges, Rapid7's Emerging Talent team was able to challenge convention to reach candidates in new ways. Rapid7 is opening a new office in Tampa, Florida so the team headed South (both virtually and physically) to build their employer brand at schools they have not partnered with before. For their existing partnerships, they engaged in virtual university and club events to connect with students to share opportunities at Rapid7. Additionally, the team continued their partnership with the HBCU Career Development Marketplace and brought in one of their Rapid7 executives to speak to students, tell his story and give them career advice.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
Rapid7's Emerging Talent team prioritizes candidate experience every step of the way. From the first interaction with a recruiter, candidates are treated with respect and are valued for all of their unique characteristics they bring to the table. Their process focuses on teaching candidates about Rapid7 & the company's core values, and evaluating where they will contribute to the culture. The team encourage candidates to "Bring You" to their interviews as teams are encouraged to do so on a daily basis at Rapid7.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
At Rapid7, diversity and inclusion are pillars of their culture and ethos. The company aims to provide opportunities to candidates of under-represented groups at all levels and have initiatives in place to focus recruiting for their emerging talent programs. They have a strong partnership with Hack.Diversity, an organization that matches Black and LatinX talent into internships in STEM roles. To date, they have converted 100% of their interns into full time roles at Rapid7. Additionally, the Rotation Program is a full time role for recent grads and each class hired since its inception in 2019 is made up of over 50% women and people of color. These efforts aid in future diversity recruiting & retention.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
Rapid7's Intern Program in North America unites interns from different office locations, levels of education and lines of business together to give them connections, work experience and advice to lead them to success in their careers. Each Summer, interns come together in person and virtually to network and learn from each other. Rapid7 also provides them with specialized trainings around how to best utilize their internship experience to set them up for full time roles, how their roles impact the business and opportunities to hear from leaders in Rapid7. The interns get value not just from their day-to-day roles, but also from forming connections at Rapid7.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
Rapid7 is an amazing place for students to start their careers. The full-time Rotation Program is an 18-month experience in which participants rotate through 3 teams within a specific business function. Tracks range from Software Engineering to InfoSec, Business Analytics, and Organizational Strategy. In this program, students gain experience, focus their passions and ultimately become holistic, well-rounded problem solvers. Rapid7 has baked monthly community service and professional development sessions into the program, encouraging employees to expand beyond their area of focus and build their leadership skills.
