Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment
PNC recruits from colleges and universities across the U.S. using a hybrid recruitment strategy that includes on-campus activities like career fairs, information sessions and classroom lectures, as well as virtual panel discussions and mixers. At several strategic partner schools, PNC adopts a creative and innovative approach to recruiting that involves hosting fun and engaging events such as game nights and barbecues, and virtual hackathons where students work in groups to solve a business challenge. These events offer students the opportunity to engage with PNC recruiters in a meaningful way while also providing insight into PNC's values and culture.
Impactful Internship Program
Summer interns kick off their 10-week experience with an orientation in downtown Pittsburgh, home of PNC's headquarters, where they have the opportunity to network, learn the fundamentals of banking and participate in hands-on activities supporting PNC's Grow Up Great initiative. Back in their markets, the interns are provided an innovative experience full of unique engagements, dedicated learning opportunities, and tools and resources to help them stay connected and challenged. These experiences include: A Leader Speaker Series, direct exposure to real-world projects, capstone presentations to senior business leaders, and a Venture Vault competition where participants pitch solutions to business challenges. Summer interns are the primary pipeline for PNC’s full-time development programs and a critical component of the organization’s early-career talent strategy.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
To start, entry-level hires are set up for success through an interactive facilitated onboarding program that exposes them to PNC’s brand and values and helps them understand how the organization achieves success. Employee Business Resource Groups that connect employees with a shared background or experiences; formal and informal networking and mentoring programs; and Grow Up Great, the organization’s flagship philanthropic program, help new talent learn the skills they need to be successful in their roles, get to know their colleagues, and immerse themselves in PNC's culture of volunteerism and giving back to the community. From real-world experiences to project-based assignments, PNC’s early career programs give entry-level employees the exposure and support to develop personally and professionally while they grow their careers at PNC.
