Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
When it came to hiring in 2021 the PlanSource team faced many challenges due to the pandemic – but knew they had to do something different to stay engaged. The team made sure that outside of LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed and many other job boards that they directly worked with platforms focuses on students. Two platforms that worked wonders were KnightLite (UCF) as well as Handshake. Handshake allowed the team to connect with hundreds of schools and hundreds of High Potential Students and recent grads. The team also made sure to connect through in person career fairs, virtual fairs as well as professional development events for the student community such as mock interviews and resume reviews in order to help them improve their success rate.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
PlanSource believes in the power and potential of Early Career candidates. This is the main reason why they put a great emphasis on hiring HPEL's (High Potential Early Career). They make sure that the candidate is engaged from the initial prescreen all the way to the final offer when extended. The team makes sure to contact them in under 12 hours of applying and try and get them on the phone at their earliest convenience. When they get on the phone the team makes sure to have a conversation with them instead of a rigid interview. The recruiter explains the company, gets to know them, explains the role, covers compensation as well as benefits as well as opens the floor for them to ask as many questions as desired.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
PlanSource is located in a very diverse area which allows the company to connect with very diverse colleges in the community. PlanSource is heavily focused on D&I. Outside of being a very inclusive company they also have internal support groups for LGBTQ, Women, POC, Parents and so much more. The company believes they need to be more than just a paycheck to their employees. They need to be a support system and firm foundation for them. This helps PlanSource attract many diverse candidates and gives them reason to remain outside of the full suite of benefits.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
PlanSource's internships allows students to get real life experience while working with real life seasoned employees in the industry that they are trying to break into. The team makes sure that their interns experience tremendous growth, that whether they choose to stay with PlanSource or another company that they will be a major asset due to the training and development that the team poured into them. Out of the offers that PlanSource extended to interns, a large majority accepted it without a second thought. PlanSource allows them to be fully involved with a company that is a leader in the Saas industry.

PlanSource fully believes that High Potential candidates are sometimes the greatest asset to a company. Many candidates just finished school and are looking to break into the market. They are full of passion and that adds so much fuel to the fire in a company and in turn produces high performing, high growth professionals. This allows them to get the experience they are looking for and shows them that just because someone lacks experience does not mean they can not be equipped for a job.
