Publicly Traded Large Enterprise (1000+ employees)
The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
PayPal was selected as a 2024 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of diverse talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
As the world continues to evolve and become more diverse, PayPal must evolve to reflect the global communities it serves. In June 2020, PayPal committed $535 million to strengthen its internal diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging programs and support the recruitment, hiring, and career advancement of underrepresented talent. This initiative resulted in partnerships with CodeHouse, INROADS, and NABA to build a pipeline that increases the recruitment and retention of underrepresented talent at PayPal. PayPal also maintains relationships with HBCUs, BCUs, HSIs, TCUs, and gender-focused universities to meet and attract diverse students across the globe. Upon joining the organization, PayPal’s global workforce has access to eight employee resources groups, thousands of learning and career development workshops focused on internal mobility, inclusive performance management, and women in leadership, as well as Emerging Leader programs that foster mentoring and skill-building opportunities.
Impactful Internship Program
PayPal is committed to building the next generation of innovators through the Global Intern Program. PayPal interns contribute solutions that impact customers and employees and ultimately move the company forward on the mission to democratize financial services. Hearing from senior leaders, participating in targeted career pathing workshops such as "Program v. Product Management", participating in the Global Leader Networking series with regular 1:1s with leaders across the globe, and showcasing their project work with end-of-summer presentations all provide opportunities for interns to grow as early professionals. PayPal interns also can expect to be immersed in PayPal’s culture and have a full calendar of intern events to connect with their peers globally, including PayPal’s Intern Day of Impact volunteering opportunities, a 24-hour Ideathon, International Intern Day celebration, Intern Wellness Wednesdays, and more! The University Team and the greater PayPal community realize that their highest purpose is to invest in creating the future leaders of PayPal!
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
PayPal works to stay at the forefront of early talent expectations and needs by delivering a 2-year structured Recent Grad Program to equip university hires to navigate life at PayPal and keep customers center of all PayPal does. The program delivers value driven onboarding to acclimate incumbents to the workforce and help them thrive personally by capitalizing on the benefits and resources offered. Additionally, recent graduates participate in development curriculum, which offers C-Suite leadership exposure, career pathing and mobility planning, and abundant opportunities to create organic mentorship connections. Additionally, recent graduates participate in the Recent Grad Certification Program designed to pave a clear pathway for participants professional development and promotional readiness. Finally, recent graduates at PayPal progress as a cohort to strengthen peer to peer connectivity and foster a sense of belonging to the greater organization. Across PayPal’s global workforce, there is a focus on reinforcing company values to help every recent grad at the company feel a sense of pride as they launch their careers!
