Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring
Otis is constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for an entire industry, taking ideas and innovation to all-new levels and reinventing entire experiences for passengers, customers, and colleagues. Otis understands the need and believes in making an intentional investment in its future generation of talent and leadership. As a result, the company invests in a strong early career recruiting program that focuses on attracting students of diverse backgrounds, across various universities, and in different disciplines, around the U.S. The experiences early career hires have in the programs develop their passions and expertise to address new challenges and uncover new possibilities.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
The early career team at Otis participates in a wide-range of events that allows for students to connect with the organization, whether virtually or in-person. From info sessions, resume review workshops, classroom presentations, and virtual and in-person career fairs, Otis successfully reaches various demographics of students. Furthermore, the team provides the support for previous interns to act as brand ambassadors for Otis, and to leverage their network to bring in additional talent. Otis successfully deploys a social media marketing strategy to directly reach targeted demographics of students across various universities. Otis understands that providing work-life flexibility is critical to an employee’s success. Therefore, Otis offers onsite, hybrid, and remote work arrangements for its internship program.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Otis continues to enhance its diversity initiatives by sponsoring national programs such as Ron Brown, Thurgood Marshall Leadership Institute, Society of Black Engineers, Black Engineer of the Year Awards, Women of Color STEM Awards, National Black MBA, Prospanica, Society of Women Engineers, Society of Asian Engineers & Scientists, and National Sales Network. In addition to national recruitment, Otis continues to forge relationships with HBCUs, such as Howard University and Tuskegee University, by attending career fairs, and hosting onsite events directly with the students at these universities. Otis also continues to explore opportunities to broaden its engagement with HSIs and other universities that are rich with diverse talent. Otis’ connections include hosting events that include diverse colleagues sharing their experiences and career progression with similar diverse communities on campus and at organizational events.
Impactful Internship Program
Otis interns are provided with rewarding, challenging, and real-business assignments. Over 100 interns are hired in cohorts and have a week of activities and welcome sessions to better acclimate into the organization, including systems access demonstrations, and meeting important company resources. Throughout the program, interns are provided with various centralized activities, including a community service project. Interns also have the chance to engage with executives and leaders, and Employee Resource Groups.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
Otis offers multiple programs for entry-level talent, including a Rotational Leadership Development Program, a Sales Trainee Program, and a Project Management/Operations Program. The programs include instructor-led classroom training and networking events.
