Innovative Use of Technology
Candidate experience is an essential part in the recruiting process at any firm. It can become quite challenging when companies receive thousands of applicants that they would like to give equal candidate experience to. Oliver Wyman has been in the process of turning to technology to help mitigate this process. One example is their use of RippleMatch. RippleMatch helps Oliver Wyman stay in contact with candidates that they may meet at campus events like (info sessions, career fairs, etc.) that either were not a fit or not eligible. Oliver Wyman adds these students to the RippleMatch community to engage with them for future opportunities. Technology has also played a big role this year specifically as Oliver Wyman was at least 50% virtual recruiting this year. It has allowed Oliver Wyman to connect with candidates across the country with no set back.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
At Oliver Wyman, Diversity and Inclusion are key components of their recruiting strategy. OW hosts various in-person and virtual experiences for students from marginalized backgrounds. One specific example is their Diversity Leadership Summit (DLS). This summit is a 3-day conference for 2nd and 3rd year students and allows them to get a sense of what consulting is. Many of these events are school agnostic, allowing Oliver Wyman to connect with students across the country. Additionally, in recent years, Oliver Wyman's presence at HBCUs has increased, with anticipation of continuous increase. Oliver Wyman sponsors several organizations dedicated to supporting diverse talent and providing career prep. Through these partnerships, Oliver Wyman attends and host sessions about consulting and showcasing the different career options at the firm.
Impactful Internship Program
Oliver Wyman believes that a robust internship program is key to early talent success and is a strong entry level pathway for consultants. It gives them a real-world experience into consulting. Oliver Wyman is typically between 30-50 interns per year, with a 90%+ return offer rate and over a 70% acceptance rate. Interns are assigned to consulting projects for the duration of their summer. Projects can be tied to a variety of industries such as Financial Services, Energy, Health and Life Sciences, and many more. Interns will receive formal feedback twice during their 8-week program (midpoint and end of summer), that will focus on their growth and development.
