Nyla Walker is the HBCU & HSI Partnerships and Digital First Lead at Capital One. In her role at Capital One, Nyla is responsible for identifying organizations to partner with that support HBCU and HSI efforts to provide access and opportunity to students while preparing them for the corporate world. Prior to this role at Capital One, Nyla was responsible for leading the relationships at various HBCUs and HSIs, recruited for the org's Small Business Bank, and underwrote Commercial Real Estate loans. Being an HBCU grad, Nyla is very passionate about sending the elevator back down and providing opportunity for students from underrepresented communities.
Career Highlight
"Working with HBCUs and HSIs, students shared that they were craving more case workshops earlier in their matriculation and the hope that the workshops were more interactive so the concepts resonated. I worked to elevate an existing case workshop to be delivered in smaller groups. Students are tasked as being the business owner of different food trucks in order to complete the case. We then piloted the event with a group of students from a local HBCU. They loved it! They said they felt empowered and confident to tackle cases moving forward."
